Which vest to buy?

My daughter is now 17 months and has a wide enough chest measurement to barely fit into a vest. We are very happy to be able to start "vesting" because she absolutely hates manual CPT - always has, since 6 days old. The main vests we are looking at include Hill-Rom's "The Vest" and the InCourage System. I know there are others out there and would welcome the advice of someone who's up to date on the current stuff. I spoke with the Hill-Rom rep today and was very pleased to hear they have a garmet coming out very soon that is both washable and can go in the dryer. Look forward to hearing from you!

We have the HillRom 105 vest. I like it but I think it has it's drawbacks compared to what I have heard about others. If you get the HillRom ask about the vest that they call the Minnesota version (or something like that); it has better chest coverage. I want one of those for Emily. No matter how tight I make hers I think her upper chest does not get the coverage she should have. The hoses also pop off rather easily at the high frequencies we now use, so locking hoses are a rather attractive option I wish the HillRom had.

HillRom has GREAT customer service though and worked very well with our insurance company in getting our coverage issues worked out. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> We are on a 2yr program through insurance at the end of which we will own it, they will provide lifetime replacements on vests & hoses and will service the compressor as needed.

I pretty much second everything Harriett said above. We have the Hill-Rom, after much searching. We liked the Incourage by our clinic didn't have a lot of regular interaction with their company and was more inclined towards the Hill-Rom for the long term service excellence.

I found the Hill-Rom was the quietest of all three, but definitely hate the hoses that pop off.

Read Amy's blog -- she has a lot of good information there, but also keep in mind that there have been no major studies (peer reviewed and unbiased) that show a pure comparison of the three.
