wasnt sure where to post this and havent seen any similar posts,

my partner has just been for her 20 week scan and the "nurse" saw some white "spots" near to baby`s bowel,
we have just had blood tests done to see if we are carriers of cf, has anybody else had these "symptoms"?
what other symptoms have shown up?

It's called echogenic bowel. They're basically bright spots where the baby's bowel is obstructed, presumably from cf. In and of itself, it is not diagnostic for cf, meaning basically that it does not mean your child has cf. It can, however, frequently be an indicator of cf. The genetic screen will be helpful. Make sure they used Ambry labs for the test though since it has the highest detection rate. Good luck and keep us posted. Ask any other questions that you have.

During my L2 u/s they noticed an echogenic bowel. You can view a picture of this here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0824795008/qid=1114526668/sr=8-8/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i8_xgl14/104-0018839-7888701?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Just look inside the book on maybe the 4th or 5th page and they show a picture of it.

I had my u/s on 3/22 and on 4/18 I was notified my baby has CF. Both my husband and I are of course carriers.
But the good news is this "echogenic bowel" is not uncommon and sometimes can resolve itself. I don't know if you said you were tested to see if you and your partner are carriers but I think that should be your first step.

thank you for a speedy reply.

myself and my partner had blood taken last week to test if we are carriers, we get the results and another scan tomorrow (wednesday)
up to now the "spots" are the only symptoms as such.

one of the spots has grown slightly (1mm in 2 weeks) and there are 4 altogether

on the last scan the consultant was not 100% that the spots where in the bowel or not

i will keep you updated after subsequent scans/tests

we have just had the test results back.

my partner is negative and my results have disappeared, i am of the understanding that both tests have to be positive?

due to further scans (weekly) it has been discovered that the spots are infact in the baby`s liver and not the bowel as previously stated by the consultants.
