I agree with asking your dr about it, but since you asked what we thought, her is my .o2: If the girl's dr is knowledgeable enough to even know what cepacia IS, then I would be inclined to believe he knows what he is talking about. Preemies can develop very severe lung disease that leave them vulnerable (as sounds to be the case here) with her continued bouts of illness. Cepacia can affect those with weakened immune system, those who are hospitalized and ventilated long-term, and those with <span style="font-style: italic;">chronic lung disease -particularly those with cf, but that does not mean exclusively those with cf.

I have ask my dr. about it but that was before i found out she has asthma. And the dr. that she went to had to look it up he didn't know anything about it. I read a couple of different articles on this also and 2 said asthma patients could get cepacia and 1 said no. Maybe now my husband and stepson will actually listen to me when I tell them we don't need to be living in the same house for 2 weeks out of the month. I have had a problem with this situation for almost 2 yrs ever since the stepson moved in . He never told me when she was sick until i had to figure it out for myself. Of course after I was exposed to whatever she had at the time. Me and my husband have almost split up over this situation. I have been cautious before now because she is always sick and I didn't want to catch whatever she had. I'm so glad I had the sense to do that . I will see how they handle it now since there was a chance I could die wasn't enough reason.
