Why Aztreonam was turned down by the FDA

I have a question.... For medical drugs such as chemo meds, etc. for cancer that get PASSED regardless of the many terrible side effects, would an opthamologist hold up THAT sort of drug making it to the millions of people with cancer cause it MAY hurt someone's eyes?

I seem to remember that there is tons of research out there about cancer meds that really wreak havoc on one's system and I can't imagine random (NOT oncologists) docs didn't express worry at some point. Yet, such drugs still got passed and its up to the consumer and their doc to weigh the pros and cons. Why is that not the case with Azli?

This just really p&*%$$es me off!

One more thing...

This actually reminds me a lot of the SSDI system. They bring in random docs that aren't familiar with CF or CF meds that makes or breaks your disability case.

When is the gov't going to figure out that they should really use a SPECIALIST in the field to determine what happens in this country? You wouldn't ask a schoolteacher her thoughts on architectural safety regulations and then turn down a project cause a schoolteacher said it was "unsafe". Duh.

I agree with you, it is very frustrating. We really need this drug to be passed ASAP
and this ridiculous reasoning just wont cut it. They need to get their acts together QUICK!

I will be getting another month of the drug next week, I will try to find some stuff out. Its totally not fair...my baseline before starting Azli was probably in the 70's and now its around 85-86 almost all of the time. Thats a huge increase if you ask me and yea it makes a difference. BUT thats not all, my rate of hospitalizations has gone down a lot too.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
