Why won't my insurance accept colistin?

When I tried Colistin, my insurance covered it <b>after</b> my doctor wrote a "medical letter of necessity". Have you asked your doctor/nurse about doing this? Possibly that would help

Insurance companies don't understand that colistin is used by CFers as an inhaled medication. That usually is the hang up with that.

Lauren is right, they have a hang up with realizing we use it to inhale. I also might mention that one month's supply costs about $6,600. So they're going to try and avoid paying for it, obviously.
