The only thing I'm not sure about is insurance and how long you will be covered for with the government. Transplant meds are expensive. I did a back to work program for 9 months while I still collected my benefits to make sure that I was fit to work. After my 9 months, I called SSA and told them I was going to continue work and I stopped getting my checks and that was that (well it was a bit more involved than that, but that's the short story.)
And I totally understand not working, but I have to say, not once throughout all of my high school jobs, college internships, or the last 3 years of real world working has having cystic fibrosis, or doctors appointments, or hospital stays ever affected my career (knock on wood). I think that is pretty much against the law....
