"Will I still love my mum" show

Did anybody happen to watch and tape the show (don't remember what channel it was on) that was on a week ago called, "will I still love my mum"? I tried to tape it but my VCR was being stupid, so I asked the company if they could send me a tape and they so kindly did but.... the tape is bad. I hear voices like somebody recorded it too fast and no picture, just swervy lines all over the screen. Since they sent it to me for free, I don't want to send it back saying it's bad and requesting a new one, but I still want to see the show. IF anyone taped it, I would be happy to send a blank tape and a prepaid envelope to mail it back. (division902@hotmail.com)

Thanks,
Julie

Hi Julie

I live in England so I saw it. It was on Channel 4 over here. It was about two 10 year old girls, both needed transplants - one did and we saw her go through, but at the end of the program (and to this day) Kayleigh is still waiting for hers. Kayleigh's mum posts on the CF trust website so keeps us updated. I'm 20, and found the program quite upsetting to watch at times - it gave me goosepimples at some point. I watched it with my mum and she was telling me about how hard it was for her when I was small. Hearing the facts about transplant and stuff aimed at people to educate about CF was quite hard-hitting - it's not like when we are sat down and told about it by our own doctors. Anyway, I thought the program was really well made and moving - I hope a lot of people watched it and now know more about CF and our need for donors.

Hope you manage to get hold of another copy, unfortunately I didn't tape it as I would have sent it over for you.

Melissa,
I do have the womans email address- I can pass it on to you sometime this weekend. If you get ahold of a copy can I send you a tape so you could make a copy for me (and a prepaid envelope)?

I am not at a computer where it will allow me to sign in-sorry...

If your VCR wasn't working when you tried to record it, maybe the tape they sent you was fine but your VCR isn't? I imagine you tested your VCR on another tape?

I did check the VCR JT, thankyou though- I thought about that. I just didn't set it right to record, but all other tapes play just fine.
Thanks

Julie (not at my computer, I am in WA right now)

Julie,
I did manage to record most of the programme. Let me know if you have failed to get a copy elsewhere, and I will post it direct to you. Send your address to me at greenhamhall@btopenworld.com if you still want it.

This is sort of a stupid question but, why was the show called "Will I Still Love My Mum?" What about getting a lung transplant would make them NOT love their mothers LOL? Maybe it's the sort of thing that is explained in the show itself.

Its called "will i still love my mum" because many children are unsure about having somebodys elses organs in their own body, and often ask how they will feel if they have another childs lungs or hearts. Many of them are still young enough to ask: If I have someone elses heart, will I still love my mum?

That is SO cute. It didn't occur to me that kids might worry about a heart transplant because the proverbial heart and the organ are one and the same to them.
