Hi All,
I have scheduled my annual "Winning with CF" teleclass for Febuary, 2013 and wanted you to know about it. This will be my fifth year teaching it! This is a six week, 2 hour teleclass for parents/ guardians of children of all ages with cystic fibrosis.

You will learn techniques that:
- Are simple and easy to learn
- Teach resilience, responsibility, character and good coping skills
- Lower your stress level
- Have immediate and positive effects
- Up the odds your child’s transition to independence will be fun instead of frantic

In this class, you'll discover how to:
- Motivate kids with CF to adhere to medical requirements without nagging, lecturing, bribing or yelling
- Put an end to whining, arguing, and complaining about medical treatments
- Answer difficult questions about medical issues without causing fear
- Empower your child to make wise self-care decisions- even when you’re not around
- Raise confidant, responsible kids with high coping skills
- Increase the odds that your child will lead a healthy, happy, hope-filled life

This class is based on the award-winning book "Parenting Children with Health Issues: Essential Tools, Tips and Tactics for Raising Kids with Chronic Illness, Medical Conditions and Special Healthcare Needs" by Foster Cline MD and Lisa Greene.

Dr. Cline is a child psychiatrist and co-founder of Love and Logic, a popular parenting program. Lisa is a family life educator and the mother of two children with cystic fibrosis. They have teamed up to adapt Love and Logic's powerful- yet simple- parenting tools to the challenges of raising kids with special healthcare needs. Visit www.PCWHI.com for more information about the book and other resources including free audio downloads and video clips.

Are they taped/accessible after (obviously for the fee) so that if you can't do during the time offered you could watch later at a convenient time?

That's a great question! I do not tape the actual class (or allow them to be recorded) so that we have confidentiality and a safe place to share. If people miss a class, then I do have a pre-recorded video clip to bring them up to speed on the core concepts.

So much of the value of a class is being together with other parents and sharing/ learning from each other so that's why I offer it "live" and only to CF parents. I know not everyone can make it; it's hard to pick a perfect time. This is the first year I am offering it on a weekend, it's been weeknights prior so I will see how it goes.

The material itself is available in our book and new DVD. Here are some links if you are interested. I also present this material at CF Family Ed Days all over the US and have several scheduled for the fall.

DVD (3 hours, excellent, LOTS of specific CF info): http://www.parentingchildrenwithhealthissues.com/catalog/item/7761577/8280279.htm

Ha! Too funny! I'll bet you've read it more than I have. ;-) I think I need to re-read it again, it's been a little while. My problem is that when I do, I start finding new things I want to say; I have so many new stories to share both about my kids and others we hear from families. It would end up double in size! (Scary)
Hugs and Hope!

Thanks! I have the book and have read it more than 10 times so it is second-nature when it comes time!
