I used to always be borderline anemic, but became severly anemic after my daughter's birth. Iron pills can wrok, but what has been easiest on my system and helped the most are...1) Reliv2) liquid chlorophyllcheck out www.geocities.com/MurrensNatureMama/wellness for more ways to combat anemia. I think a predisposition to anemia can stem from plain, old malabsorption. Because of digestive issues, many people with CF don't eat lots of leafy green veggies and we tend to be deficient in the other nutrients that our bodies use to help absorb and use iron.

HollyCatheryn,

I checked out your site a few weeks ago and it was very helpful to me. We're thinking about trying for kids soon. Anyway, I was interested in the Reliv, but I can't figure out where to get it. I tried the link at the time and coudln't get through.

I don't think I ever had a problem before with anemia but right now I am anemic. My hematocrit(sp) is like 28. I believe the normal level is 33 to 38 so I am pretty low. I am tired all the time. The other day i slept all day until 5 PM. I just had a cleanout and I think it's from the meds I was on. I hope it starts to get better. I'm tired of being tired!

Yes, I am anemic most of the time, especially during my period. I take vitamins and iron pills (they bug my belly), I don't take Vit. K because I am on coumadin to prevent blood clots...I have a history of pulmonary embolisms, have a port and am not as active as most folks so the docs have me on blood thinners to keep me from forming clots. So I am sure that the coumadin contributes to the heavier flows with me. I would rather deal with that than antother blood clot in my lungs though.

I've never been told I was anemic but I have been on a multi-vit with iron for as long as I can remember, as well as Vit K. I'm always tired and can sleep 12 + hrs also, but at night (9pm or so) I wake up and have no problem staying up until 3am or later reguardless if i had 3 hrs or 12 hrs of sleep. I'm thinking that is my internal clock has its am and pm mixed up...hehe. I also bruise easily and they take a while to heal. Maybe I'm anemic and dont know it. But they always say my blood work looks fine.

They think I may have an ulcer Karen, and I'm going for a scope next month. I have no bleeding, just pain in my stomach and a "stress" kind of feeling in it.
So maybe it is related to that.
