Working moms vs. stay at home??

Hi there, our doctors also encouraged us to keep our son out of daycare & playgroups until at least 3. This wasn't an issue because I had stopped working when I became pregnant with him. Before I even knew he had CF. My sons first 3 years we took the doctors advise and avoided the playgroups. My sons first 3 years I think we only had one runny nose, one fever. Very uneventful! Last year johnny started preschool for 3 hrs a day. We caught some colds, but Johnny did fine. Last year we had a hospital stay because of his tummy (bowel obstruction from scar tissue). No fun!!!
<br />Now at 4 years old my son his back in preschool 3 hrs a day. He loves it and is learning so much. I'm happy to see the growth that school has provided.

<br />This is a great site for all your questions.

i would never risk dropping a baby off at daycare cf or no cf.
Cf is a good enough reason to stay home and protect the baby from any unneccessary sickness.

This is something we struggle with, but it ultimately comes down to what your family can reasonably make work.  I would love to stay home, but right now, it makes the most sense for our LO to be cared for by a family member while I continue to work and am fortunate to have an incredibly flexible working situation.  If that were not the case, I would likely be home.<br><br><br>

I guess our view was that eventually DS was going to be going to kindergarten. Also being an only child, we wanted him to have socialization as well. We didn't come by our decision easily, we thought long and hard about it and decided we'd see how things went and if need be we'd look at other alternatives.

I was also told to keep Asia away from daycare and kindergarden. So I work at home and she stays with me. We have a second girl - 8 months - healthy and she also will not attend kindergarden - so she will not bring sickness to Asia. Kindergardens here are not a very heakthy envirment - school seems a bit better - but will see next year when Asia starts preschool. - I was told to be prepared to take Asia home from school when flue seasons starts... I don't know what I'll do - but more so - I decided to work at home - I earn less but I'm here - and we can afford this. My mom comes to help me if I have to go out to clients - I never ask them to come over.

an in-home daycare when my maternity leave ended -- she was three months old.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  There were never more than 6 kids total.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  She was not diagnosed until she was 18 months
old.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  For those fifteen months in daycare
not knowing she had CF, she had her share of colds, just like the other
kids.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  After diagnosis, we kept her in
that daycare until she was four and then switched to a pre-school/daycare

exacerbation in her years going to daycare.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
Her first, and only, hospitalization came when she was in

I would recommend finding an in-home provider, at least until a year or
two old, longer if you can.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  At least
there are fewer kids in that type of setting and you will be able to have more
