Worried about my step-son

Hi Jen, I am new to this forum and have come to seek advise and vent. I find myself in a similar situation except for me, I have no legal rights to the child involved. Her mother is very lazy about her treatment and care. She has been back in the state for over 8 months and now that her medication stock pile from up north has run out, she applied for medical assistance and was denied. She is now looking at other options. In the mean time, she has run out of all of her medicines except Tobi. It makes me livid that she doesn't take her CF seriously. I love her as if she was my own and I am in a difficult place. I have to be careful what I say and do for fear of having her mother take her away from me forever. I wish I knew what to do too. My advice to you is to keep trying! Maybe a phone call from dad rather than you? My thoughts are with you all. Don't give up hope.
