if I only put 0.5 mls of albuterol in the nebulizer, it would be done in half a minute! I thought everybody added stuff to it???

hmm, now I'm REALLY curious...</end quote></div>

That seems like an odd amount. My albeuterol comes in 2.5mg/3ml vials!

UPDATE/EDIT:

I am reading the Albuterol box & it says equivalent to 0.5ml Albuterol Sulfate 0.5% diluted to 3ml with normal saline. So mine already comes mixed. Wow I learned something new.

I use Xopenex because regular Albuterol makes my heart race and makes me jittery (shakey hands, etc.). Xopenex can do the same thing to me, but not as badly as Albuterol. Mine comes in a vial that doesn't need anything added to it- just goes straight in the neb. I use the .63 version (the higher one gives me the side effects). It was described to me as being esssentially "refined albuterol". My insurance pays for it, but I have the higher "nonprefered drug" copay.

I don't know about the mixing it with atrovent- that might be one for your pharmacist or doctor <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .

I have always added Broncho Saline to Tanner's albuterol. 3 ml to .5 of albuterol. Maybe everyone's comes premixed - ours never has. Does anyone take just albuterol? Curious too.

I use Xopenex (you may hear some RTs call it levalbuterol) because it doesn't make me as shaky. I used to nebulize it, but now I just do the Xopenex HFA inhaler. For me it saves time and gives the same benefit.
