Yeast growing in my port....

my son had yeast in his port and they did decide to take it out, just because he is on the Tx list and he couldnt be on the list with the yeast growing in his system. So they got rid of the line to clear it out. He has been yeast free since.

I hope they are able to get rid of it without having to take it out.

I had yeast in my culture 2 visits ago. it is gone now, but when the doctors saw it they didn't seem to care much about it?

did you say that your doc's said it was life threatening?

the yeast is in my port, not lungs. and because ports are metal, your body doesn't recognize that it needs to fight any infection in the port.
So I'm kind of with you, I didn't see the huge rush of everything. But my dr said "it was serious, it could get worse, blah blah blah and he did say life threatening". I guess if my body didn't fight it off it could kill me?! I don't know. It's a pain in the butt.
But i haven't had any of those horrible side effects that I had before, fevers, nausea, body ache, head ache, etc. So this IS helping and for that i'm thankful. And I'm thankful to not be in the hospital for Christmas.
