i get yeast infections all the time, i think it may be from the antibiotics. i was just wondering if any other women get them frequently and if so, how do you deal with them. mine get really bad and cause fissures ( my doc thought i had herpes b/c of the fissures, put me on the medicine b4 the test results came back and i was really upset even though i just knew the doc was wrong. of course the results came back negative) just wondering if anyone else get fissures (looks like paper cuts on the vagina and around the anus)

If you're on antibiotics, try taking AZO yeast and/or acidophilus. Those kind of counteract the yeast-causing properties of the antibiotics, and generally can keep them away. I don't know if I've ever had fissures in the vaginal area, but I *know* I've had many many on my anus. Not fun, I know. I've always had those chemically cauterized at a proctologist's office.

But like I said, DEFINITELY try the AZO yeast and acidophilus. Both are over the counter, you can find them at any pharmacy, they're not too expensive (like $7 or $8 a bottle for each, roughly), and they're *way!* worth it. I've been on Zithromax for almost 3 years, and have been taking both AZO yeast and acidophilus every day, and the only time I get yeast infections anymore is when I go on IVs, because those are so much stronger. Definitely worth the $15 or so bucks a month for the 2 bottles. I love having a non-itching and non-burning vagina. Haha.

I get bad yeast infections & have a chronic discharge. When I am able to keep yogurt with live cultures stocked in my house (they go fast between my daughter & I) it helps a whole bunch. I have never needed medication yet except to use vagisil until the yogurt kicks in.

Yogurt will do the trick as long as it contains the acidophilis (however you spell that!) Yogurt is also a lot more cost effective than any of the medicine!

Look up www.geocities.com/MurrensNatureMama/wellness There are several recommendations for yeast infection/overgrowth. In addition to the ones currently listed (I haven't had a chance to add these yet), you can douche with a tea tree oil (TTO) or vinegar solution or yogurt. you can also put a couple of drops of TTO in some other oil (olive, vegetable, etc.) and use it topically. You can gargle TTO or vinegar solutions if you have yeast in your mouth (thrush).Hope that helps. Yeast infections are miserable.
