I went to my cf doctor couple weeks ago and they now have this program called "Newborn Screening" and its government funded there hoping it stays forever but it helps you to gte your vitamins and like schandi shakes or other supplements free!! I was just aproved and they send it to your house through Apex pharmacy same day each month and its also free no shipping charges! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Newborn Screening is done in all states after a baby is born to test for multiple severe diseases. As of a couple years ago CF is now part of the screen in all 50 states. Newborn screening is a program administered by the dept. of health, but the families are billed for it through the hospitals/practitioners that delivered the baby.

I know that different enzyme companies have programs that will send you free supplement drinks and vitamins w/ the enzymes if you are not on any gov. insurance... and there are a couple programs for children in the first few years after dx. I wasn't aware of this program or it's connection to newborn screening. Can you tell us more about it or what you had to do to get approved?

Hello yes <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> !..Well see i had went to my cf apointment and the dietition came in and said got some good news...I said oh really what is that <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> she said well the government has just aproved this new program and itll help with your vitamins and supplements!..i said really thats awesome! Because just for the ADEKS its like 25$! So i was pleased to hear this...All she had me do was sign my name on this paper she brought in to me and thats when she said its the "Newborn screening" and if i remember correctly she said that they are now covering vitamins and weight drinks and will have no shipping cost and its free!..She askd me what insurance i have i told her ive got cigna, medicare, and medicaid she said thats perfect ..so a few days later i recieved a response from them and they said i was aproved and now on the 10th of each month i recieve my vitamins and schandi shakes <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ...Only way i can think of to find out about this is to call the Cf clinic! hope this helps!
