Zithromax

hey,

long time patient, still new to this forum. I have been on QOD zithromax for a year or two. If memory serves correctly it was something the aussies stumbled on (thanks down there). I don't know how common that is? This may have already been a covered topic, just wondering how many others take this as part of their regimen?

In case your are unfamilar, it has nothing to do with the antibiotic part, it does however seem to decrease inflammation in the lung. It has a fancy reason why but I won't bore you with the details.

Ya us aussies are pretty darn clever huh, LOL
I took the zithomax for about 18 months prior to my tx and for me it helped a lot with my inflamation.. With a lot of drugs like zithro and even the pulmozyme you dont think its doing anything until you stop!!! then all hell breaks loose and you notice the difference big time in ya lungs.
So ya, I think zithro is a pretty good drug to be on
my dose was 250mg daily for the whole 18 months I was on it

Hi Luke ,

I hope this finds you well! I have been on Zithromax now i'd say for about 2 years or more. I take 500mg Mon wed and fri. I have had no problems with it and it has kept my PFTs stable.

I have been on zithromax (250) seven days a week for 6-8 months. I have recently decreased to three times a week. With all my rejection meds., it seems to give me some nausea if taken 7 days per week. I tolerate the drug 3/week. This is the second or third time I have used zithromax since my TX. I am told I will stay on this drug for years.
