I've only recently managed to get Zithromax prescribed and have to pay for it myself......$1000 for six months OUCH!!

At this cost i'm not taking any chances with it not being 100% effective.......so i take it on it's own in the late afternoon, which is 10 hours after taking all my vitamins, supplements and minerals (including zinc and magnesium) and consuming any milk products.

I'm hoping this will stop anything interfering with a) the absorption and b) the effectiveness of this hellishly expensive drug.

I hate living in New Zealand when it comes to CF, no vests, no zithromax, a 'one size fits all' approach to our care and no insurance so we can't even buy what we need at a decent price. New Zealand CFers are not taken care of very well at all

Any of you noice american men want a jaded, sick and slightly crazy kiwi wife? I cook and clean well

Do they have the azithromycin (generic zithromax) in New Zealand? When I first got my prescription filled, they gave me zithromax and my co-pay was $195. Then when I got it filled again, I asked for the generic and my co-pay was only $4.

Hi Sarabeth - Hmmm you know i've always thought that Zithromax and Azithromycin were just different names for the exact same drug - i was not aware that Azithromycin is the generic and therefore cheaper version. Where do you live and what is 'co pay'?
