i don't have experience with asthma; only CF as my daughter has CF; though CF can display alot of symptoms similar to asthma. It's good you are having a sweat test; I hope it is negative. Unfortunately, you need no family history to have a child with CF. We has no family history of CF(that we know of); and our daughter has CF. All you need are the mother and father to be carriers of the CF mutation; then there is a 25% with each child to have CF...Hope that makes sense. Anyhow, are you seeing a pediatric pulmonologist? Has she been allergy tested? Have they done a throat culture to rule out any bacteria in her sputum...These are just a few things I would have done or ask about. If you truly want to rule out CF...You should have genetic blood work done to look for 2 CF mutations in your daughter. Hoping for a negative sweat test for your child!

Also, being that she's coughing up all that junk and you're doing breathing treatments, maybe inquire with the doctor if someone in the respiratory therapy department can teach you how to do chest physiotherapy to help get that stuff out.

Well, I'm not a doctor, but I have recently been diagnosed with asthma myself and this does sound like a combo of allergies and asthma to me. I had gone weeks of just doing albuterol and seeing no difference at all. Junky cough. Colds that lingered. Post nasal drip. Whistling and wheezing lightly. I didn't see any relief until I started an inhaled steroid in addition to the bronchiodialator.

I think its great that your doctor wants to rule out CF. I hope its not. Sweat tests can be tricky and do keep in mind that so long as you are trying to rule it out, any elevation in sweat chloride (even if it is technically negative) should be followed by some genetic work to really rule out CF.

Best of luck to you.
