Second Child??

I agree with musclemania also. While I, of course, wish I did not have CF, I certainly am glad that my parents (unknowing carriers) had me! I am the third in line and the only with CF. If my parents had stopped at two, they may have never known CF was in the family. Any baby born with CF today...

The HORRIBLE winter virus and IVs

My DH has it right now! I had the flu (w/fortunately few resp. symptoms) last week. I barely left the couch on M,T, and W last week! I'm glad I didn't need IV's to get past it. My doc gave me Tamiflu, which I think helped.

Hope you are feeling back to baseline soon!

    Wanting to conceive

Hi all, I am also surpised that your doctor has been unsupportive. Generally, FEV1 over 60% and good over all health (weight, etc) is considered a good predictor. However, some CF docs can be very paternal with their patients. My previous doctor was certainly not in favor of ANY woman with CF...

Know of anyone with more than 2 kids?

Hi there, I know of at least one person who has more than two child (1 bio, 2 adopted, I think). I don't know if she is on this site. I know of her from the facebook group "CF Mummies" that was started by a CF mom in England (Emma). If you friend me of fb (Mary Delany-Hudzik), I can add you to...

    Disability Question-Handicap Parking

Hi!

I've had one since college (~10 yrs). My lung function is good (70%), but like others said, it's good in the winter. Honestly, I rarely use it, because I hate the nasty looks I get. One time, at a restaurant, two older men were talking about how I parked in a handicapped...

self medication in schools? please help!

It's been quite a while, but I know that my parents had to fight for my ability to take my enzymes (and keep them on my person) at lunchtime. I think this issue is generally complicated by the fact that A LOT of kids are on meds these days (ADHD, etc.). Schools are afraid letting one kid take...

I want to know what percent of CFers work

I work 2 days/wk (was working 3, but down to 2 because of budget cuts). MyFEV1 is in the low 70's. I'm fortunate that my husband is able to support us and my salary is mostly "extra".

Azithromycin may predispose cystic fibrosis patients to mycobacterial infection??

I take Azithromycin and had "scant growth" of M. Abscessus on a bronch, which was done to try to figure out why I wasn't responding to antibiotics. Once I was treated for the M.A., my pft's rebounded. I am seriously considering stopping the Azithromycin, since, in my opinion, a mycobacterial...
