Hey guys,

I just sent out my first email to EVERYONE i know to join my Great Strides walk in May 2008.

I've set my BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) for my group for $10,000. Yup, you read right. $10k. And it's going to happen....

I want to know what your BHAG is. This isn't a "I'm better than you" thread, but rather a way for us to all get excited about Great Strides together and push ourselves to new heights. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

So let's hear it..... maybe we can share fundraising strategies too. I sent a "reasons to participate" in my email this time around.... here's what I said:

<b>Reasons to participate in the walk: </B>

- Burning those calories walking/running will help you get into bathing suit shape for the summer
- Free Crispy Creme donuts (mmmmmmm)
- All the cool people are doing it... (I am expecting over 50 + people on my team....)
- Money goes directly to fund life-saving Cystic Fibrosis research (we can't make progress without you)

That's a great goal Amy! You have such a big team I think you'll totally do it.

I set mine at $10K last year and achieved it. Personally I brought in more than half of it. This year one of my personal goals is to get one friend or family mem to start a remote spin off of my team. I have friends all over that can't make it to my area for the walk but that I think would enjoy participating in GS more than just donating to my efforts. I always offer this opportunity in my GS letter...anyone have suggestions of how to make this come together?

This year I'm tempted to go to $15K as a goal but my big "wrap around" event I do I did differently this year which was better for CFF but not as good for my personal fundraising. It all goes to the same place so I'm more interested in raising more money however it gets achieved even though it will negatively effect my 2008 personal total.

Let me explain, last year I did gift wrapping at a Borders store and raised $2400! This year, I decided to offer the local CFF chapter to be a liaison to anyone looking to do their own Borders event. I helped 8 women from DE, NJ and PA schedule and succeed at their own Gift Wrapping fundraiser at Borders. I haven't heard totals yet but I brought in $530 alone from a couple days I did (well actually my volunteers) at my local Borders so I can only imagine between the 8 of us we brought in more than $2400 which was my goal. And best of all I got 8 women volunteering in a way that they've never done before and maybe, just maybe they will make this a part of their annual holiday tradition like I have done. I encouraged them all to submit their money online for matching by that generous father. One thing that really made me feel like I was doing good and making a difference was that I got a letter from nationals (Bethesda) complimenting my hardwork and efforts to take my fundraising to another level.

Your timing is good, Amy. I'm having a really hard time getting motivated this year. Last year we raised about $8,000 (two different GS walks, a comedy improv/silent auction event fudraiser, a Pampered Chef fundraiser and a Jeans f or Genes day at my school.) Additionally, I organized one of the walks for the CFF and did a raffle there whch brought in $250 ($150 more than I said I wanted it to do since it was just little thing I threw together).

Honestly, I think I did too much l ast year. Took on too much for myself, I mean. I am just not up for being all over it this year. But, we will still do two walks and the comedy improv event with our theater group, so I'm still stting my goal at $6K -$7K.

Anyway, thanks for the "Shot in the Arm" that I needed. THink I"ll go work on Emily's montage and our fundraising letter.

This is my first Great Strides walk, and i set my team goal at 5k. my personal goal of this is $1500, and I'm already a third of the way there!!!!

I spoke to my brother yesterday, and we were also thinking about throwing a fundraiser for the CFF sometime in June, so hopefully we can get that together and raise some money there.
