    Barrel chest

Awesome article. I went to a national physical therapy conference last January and there was a 2 day seminar on PT for CF patients and one of the big issues they tackled was postural dysfunction. It's interesting stuff and important to know.

Upper Back Pain Due to Coughing??

I think it's a good combo of muscle straining/fatigue, and postural issues that are so common. My upper back, especially my rhomboids, were killing me for about a month because of increased coughing and poorer posture.

What kind of job do you have?

I graduated college a few months ago and just got a job in Oregon as a Physical Therapist Assistant, working in a skilled nursing facility. I start next Monday!

Searching for pulmonologists/doctors in Southern Oregon area

Hey all, I'm moving to Southern Oregon from Southern Arizona in a few weeks for a new job(!!!), specifically the Medford/Ashland area. But I have 1 little issue: the CF clinic is in Portland, and good 5 hour drive. I've been very fortunate that I have a clinic in my hometown, and the thought of...

    Yup--laxatives/softeners etc reviews

I'm on the Miralax bandwagon too. Buuuut I didn't like how expensive it was, so I googled around for polyethylene glycol 3350 and bought LaxaClear, which is Kirkland's version--a bit cheaper BUT I don't feel it's as reliable as Miralax. It'd take days before I noticed a difference, whereas for...

    Yup--laxatives/softeners etc reviews

I thought we needed a single place were we could post reviews/thoughts on any laxatives, stool softeners and etc that people have used. As we all know, this can be a big (and potentially) dangerous aspect of CF care and it's good to have options. I know many on this forum have had...

At what point did you begin treatment for CFRD?

Many years ago during a hospital stay I was given a meter after a faulty OGTT, but I lent the meter to a coworker since I had no use for it, and she said that it "broke." I asked my CF doctor if it was okay for me to just check my sugars at home, which she agreed with, but now I don't have a...

At what point did you begin treatment for CFRD?

I had my first Endo appointment a few days ago. I scheduled it way back in March after my GTT 2 hr sugars came back in the 160s which is abnormal. However, my A1C was 5.4% (I know about the "inaccuracy" of this for CFers). I also have NO symptoms of diabetes whatsoever. Anyways, the Endo...

    What's your experience with Cayston?

I love it. I've been on for about 2 years I think, and when I first started it consistently brought my FEV1 back up 10% or so. I think I was inthe low 80s, dipping into high 70s when I first got on, numbers would fluctuate, and now I'm hanging out in the high 80s low 90s. My "on" months feel...

Time period from CFRD diagnosis to seeing Endo

Lol, I definitely don't have a weight-gaining issue! And I know for a fact there's many users on here that could say the same. Point aside, my last fasting glucose came back at I think 160 post 2 hrs, so not in the dangerous zone, but not within the norms. My A1C was checked a few years ago...

Time period from CFRD diagnosis to seeing Endo

Hey all, the recent thread from RachElizza promps this one, as well as some personal stuff. How long was it between when your bloodwork came back saying "CFRD" etc etc and you seeing an Endo for treatment? (p.s. I honestly didn't know that CF clinics [or at least mine] don't treat/"deal with"...

Good RTs and postural drainage positioning

I'm wondering, how many here, when in the hospital, get a good RT that actually repositions you during postural drainage to target the different lung lobes? Because I've never have. They just sit you up and pound on your back (I don't do PD anymore anyways so it's no biggy to me). I was...

How many of you are stay-at-home moms?

I'm not a mom, but I can add a little tidbit about my own mother and father. Both of them have always worked full time, even after I was born and diagnosed. My family was very fortunate that I was always very healthy, that once I needed to be hospitalized I was a highschooler and growing in my...

    Traveling with a carry-on

I had thought that Dornase could go without refrigeration for a good chunk of time. I know Cayston can for up to a month at room temp. I'm actually flying to Oregon on Saturday, staying for 2 months, and was just wondering about how I want to take my meds. I think I'm going to put them in an...
