    Refusing a picc while pregnant

I know exactly how you feel. I am on my first course of IVs since I was 12 (I'm 34), also for 14 days, and the idea of getting a PICC freaked me out! BUT, I also had a vein blow when I was in labor - I had to get penicillin every four hours because I was group B strep positive (nothing to do...

    When there's a cure.....

I won't miss: All the time spent doing treatments, cleaning nebs, going to the pharmacy, dealing with insurance, going to the doctor, etc. I dream of the day I can get up in the morning and just grab a cup of coffee and play with my daughter! Having to worry so much about catching every little...

    CF doc vs. OB

You can also call the infant risk center - it's run by Dr. Hale, who is considered the authority on the safety of medications while pregnant and breastfeeding. The infant risk center compiles all the research on the safety of meds while pregnant and breastfeeding. Your OB probably knows who he...

Quick - Anyone Know about Breastfeeding and IV Tobi?

Thanks everyone for your quick responses! I did a lot of research today - I called my daughter's pediatrician, my lactation consultant, and Dr. Hale's infant risk center. They ALL said it was safe to nurse while on IV Tobra (of course, they all used Dr. Hale's book as their reference). My...

Quick - Anyone Know about Breastfeeding and IV Tobi?

My doctor wants to start me on a 10-day course of IV Tobramycin tomorrow, and he told me that I can't nurse while I'm on it. But, when I looked up info about this, all I found was that it's a pregnancy category D med, but that it's safe for nursing because, whatever makes it into my milk won't...

    Are you always on antibiotics?

I was on Dicloxacillin from the day I was diagnosed(a baby) until I was a teen, and then I was taken off the Dicolx because of the whole abx resistance issue. Since then only take abx when I am sick (sinus infection, really bad chest cold, or an exacerbation), which is about 3-4 times a year...
