The basics, since in much of the cf community there doesn't seem to be a 'standardized' definition of the term.

1/What is atypical cf?

2/What are the differences between 'atypical' CF and a more 'classic' presentation of the disease?

3/ How do we get...

    Serum sickness

I am not a medical professional, but it sounds to me more like a typical allergic reaction...?? I don't blame you for not wanting to use it again... repeated use of a drug one has been shown to be allergic to drastically increases odds of severe reaction (for example, anaphylaxis, which can be...

    enzymes in hospital

I am still flabbergasted over 4 to a room. That seems absolutely archaic in terms of infection control!! I still hope that is protocol largely for babies (who stay in a crib and don't touch things) ...I keep hoping someone with an older child that goes to Hopkins will see this and post. What...

    learning to swim?

The only water contact we avoid for Emily is hot tubs... and the pond on our property and others like it. But then again, I don't want ANY of my kids in water like that- it's stagnant and I'm sure loaded with nasty stuff! Spring-fed lakes, saltwater, and well-maintained pools are all a go for...

My daughter's good friend has CF, so does my husband

It would be a good idea to talk to the parent of your daughter's friend, as well as find out what your dh cultures. B.cepacia is not the only bug of concern when it comes to cf. If one of them is colonized with mrsa, for example, that is a concern... and if the child is not yet colonized with...

    CT scan report

You aren't being pathetic!! If I made you feel that way I am sorry. All of this is just so hard and when you get mixed signals from drs it makes it all the harder. But yes, bottom line is, our children are worth it, and whatever it takes must be done. And if we don't do it, no one will.
