    Bloodsugar got to 347 tonight

I hear ya, I had to do a few months of insulin when i was on steroids for ABPA. Never again will i do long-term steroids like that. It was a huge PITA. The good news is after you come off the steroids usually the need for insulin goes away.

    Reactions to Vancomycin?

I've gotten red man syndrome on vanc. Last time we pre-medicated with 75mg benadryl IV and 10mg atarax PO. It prevented any reaction, although my reactions were not as bad as your son's (all I had was blotches and severe itchiness).

    Crushing Enzymes?

Yes, I was on viokase as a baby. According to my parents, it was hell on my mouth. Enzymes have a coating on them that is designed to withstand the acid in the stomach and then be released in the small bowel where digestion and uptake of nutrients occurs. This is why chewing or crushing...

    Ideas for venus

Actually, if I were you I would be greatful rather than defensive. These people have replied to warn you of potential risk of cross-contamination with really nasty bacteria. Would you want to be responsible for someone's serious health decline after having contracted B. cepacia at your event...

    Something to Ponder

I have heard of using isopropanol to dry the ear and prevent (not treat) swimmer's ear. The question I have about this hypothesis is that most of the bacteria involved with ear infections are in the middle ear (hence otitis media). The isopropanol would probably not cross the tympanic membrane...

    Swallowed mucus causing pancreatitis?

Like you, I think the mucus theory is pretty far out there. I have heard of mild pancreatitis being linked to both certain types of antibiotics as well as corticosteroids, which could be a factor given you are having both a pulmonary and sinusoid exacerbation. I assume you have had...
