New Born Screening Positive

@Ratatosk -- I think it's because when they find a double mutation, they're checking to make sure that there wasn't an error and they didn't find the same mutation and just count it twice. (At least that's how it was explained to us. Our son has double W1282x.)

    Sterilizing nebs

Melissa -- The reason the IQ24 is so expensive is because they don't make it anymore. That might be the last one available. We use this one:http://www.amazon.com/Philips-AVENT-Electric-Steam-Sterilizer/dp/B0057ECYS0/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1330705878&sr=1-2. Our RT told us not to...

    Having more children

My husband and I are first-time parents to a beautiful 6-month-old boy with CF. We'd like to have more children, but coming off of our first hospital admission last week, we have a question for those of you with other children (either with CF or not).
If your cf child is in the hospital and...

    Tap Water

We just got a nebulizer for the first time at our clinic. Our respiratory therapist told us to wash with warm/hot tap water and dish soap, rinse them with tap water, and then use a baby bottle sterilizer with distilled water to sterilize the pieces. The sterilization should kill anything that...

    Had my baby!

Autumn -- Since I had to go back to work a couple of days a week and my baby had to learn how to take a bottle, my pediatrician said to make sure I introduced a bottle by 3 weeks or there would be a better chance that he would never take one. He switched back and forth without too much of a...

    Infant CPT

When we do CPT, it's 20 minutes, 1 minute in each of 20 spots (1 minute each spot, pounding and vibration) and 6 different unique positions. However, we don't nebulize anything. We have a spacer with a mask we use to do the albuterol puffs, but they haven't given us anything to nebulize. I...

    Infant CPT

Thank you for your responses. This is what I thought. So, as a follow-up, do you give your child albuterol before each treatment or only once? I'm just worried about an increase of the medicine, but I'm assuming that we need the bronchial tubes to be open with each treatment. For people who...

    Best CF Centers

I agree. I've been trying to do some research the last few days to figure this out after seeing lower numbers than I would like on CFF.orgs report on my clinic. I love my son's team, but I just feel that I am more aggressive than they are. I want my son to have the best shot, and I want him to...

    Infant CPT

I have a 5-month-old diagnosed with CF when he was born. Our clinic has us doing manual CPT on him once a day for 20 minutes. They keep saying they won't add a second time until he starts coughing during it.

Does this sound right? Everything I'm reading says twice a day is...
