    CRMS diagnosis in child

know this is an older thread, but my son has CRMS and I'm not able to find much online about it. Looking for others with CRMS, or who have children with it. He was just diagnosed with it last February, and other than his asthma acting up a little over the summer, he's been for the most part...

    CRMS & Mucus

My 15 yo son was diagnosed last year with CRMS. He sees the CF doctor twice a year, or more as needed. He seems to suffer the most in the winter, and I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. Last week he had diarrhea for about 5 days, and then that went away. His pediatrician...

Just curious differences in repeat sweat test?

Dr called us yesterday with the news....no CF genes found, not even one!! Thank the Lord, we’ve been on this roller coaster since October! Because of his sweat chloride numbers and his symptoms, he’ll still be seen once or twice a year and be classified as having CRMS, but I’ll take it! I...

Just curious differences in repeat sweat test?

That’s good news! Hoping for another negative result for your family! We’re still waiting on genetics results. Should know by the end of February. It’s been a waiting game since October, so knowing for sure (finally) will be a relief, either way!

    Vicks-type vaporizer?

Thanks for the info LittleLab! I didn't end up getting a vaporizer, just stuck with what the dr recommended. I originally was thinking my son's issues last week were due to the prednisone he was taking, I know it can have nasty side effects and he had never taken it before. But then his brother...

    Vicks-type vaporizer?

Good morning everyone! Quick question. My son, who is not officially diagnosed with CF, but after speaking to the CF doctor twice, believe he at minimum has CRMS, has been sick for weeks! It started with bronchitis, he was put on abx for the bacteria found in my son's culture, finished 14 days...

Just curious differences in repeat sweat test?

To the OP: I think we’re in similar stages. My 14 year old had two sweat tests in November, 2.5 weeks apart. First was 42, second was 41. Low enough that doctors say don’t worry, but high enough that there’s reason to worry! . Since then, he’s been to a wide range of doctors and...

Any tips for my sick son?

Just in case anyone is interested, an update on my son... He made it through the night without throwing up, but didn't sleep well due to the mucus and nausea. He felt pretty sick this morning on the way to the dr, but while at the hospital we got him an egg sandwich and he seemed to feel better...

Any tips for my sick son?

I’ve never seen it happen, it’s almost always the middle of the night when it happens. He calls it “throwing up”. Sometimes there’s no food, just mucus, and he says it’s clear, not yellow or green. The doctors office called me back. Dr is worried he’s not getting better so he’s ordered a chest...

Any tips for my sick son?

Also, is throwing up mucus "normal"? This is actually how we got started with the whole CF thing, he was throwing up mucus in the middle of the night so we took him to an ENT who found polyps, which led to another thing, which led to another thing, etc. Is his body just making so much thick...

Any tips for my sick son?

Thanks for the tips you two. No, he's not any nebulizer or vest treatments yet. He's bringing up lots of mucus on his own, poor kid is spitting out the car window while I'm driving down the road because it keeps coming up. And the sinus rinses are working great as well. I'm having him do at...

Any tips for my sick son?

Hi everyone. My son who is 14 does not have an actual CF diagnosis, but he's on the road to a diagnosis, just waiting for the genetics testing. In the meantime, he's been sick for 3+ weeks and I'm wondering if there's something I should be doing for him that I'm not. We go back to the CF clinic...

    NAC vitamins vs Mucinex?

No. He had just met for the first time his CF doctor a few days before he got sick, so I called his office first. They never saw him while he was sick, but he called in an antibiodic for him to take for 14 days. (he had just gotten his throat culture results back that same day and it showed...

    What were your first symptoms?

While my son (14 years old) doesn't have a CF diagnosis, we are currently over two months into CF testing. We originally took him to the ENT because he was sick for the entire month and nothing made sense. He had bronchitis, not too bad but enough he missed some school. Then he was waking up...

    NAC vitamins vs Mucinex?

While my son (14) does not have a CF diagnosis, we are in the middle of testing now. With two elevated (borderline) sweat tests, nasal polyps, mucus lining his sinuses and mucus in his lungs, and possibly a growth issue, it's appearing that it very well could be CF or at minimum CRMS (I think...

    First time poster - questions!

Well, timing isn't great. The doctor DID prescribe antibiodics. Not sure if it's because of the staph, or because he's currently sick, or more likely for both reasons. Hoping it clears up whatever infection he's fighting, poor kid hasn't been out of bed all day. Thanks everyone for all the help...

    First time poster - questions!

Quick question...nurse from CF center just called with throat culture results...his culture grows staph, I have no idea what this means??? Could someone please explain to me in layman terms?

    First time poster - questions!

Another frustrating day...my son has been sick since Wednesday, although nothing too bad. He came home Wednesday early from school with diarrhea and a cough. Seemed to be getting better, now today he's been sick since he woke up. Throwing up mucous, nasty ongoing cough and can't get out of bed...

    First time poster - questions!

Thanks for your input. His FEV1 shows Ref - 4.00, Pre - 2.69, 90%. They did not do anything with albuterol, or any other kind of treatment. The dr did mention CRMS. Basically, if I understood him correctly, even if he doesn't end up with CF, he will be treated for that, and visit the CF center...

    First time poster - questions!

Yes. What I meant is he’s never been diagnosed. They always say they don’t hear wheezing. I know nothing about asthma, so not sure how else to have it checked.
