Hi Emily! I was just thinking about you guys! Something made me remember your post about the new Sesame Street character named Abby. Hope all is well.

At our 1 year visit we has all the usuals: weight, height, lab draws (I agree with the EMLA patch idea. Call ahead and make sure they have it waiting. Sometimes they do lab work first and it does need to be applied before the draw. We took along stool samples. And, of course the chest x-ray. We also had an infant PFT. I know that there are a lot of clinics that don't do this, but if your's does, plan on it taking at least a couple of hours. She'll be sedated for it. Come to think of it, if they haven't already given you directions about which meds to give or not give and when to feed her, then you must not be having one...

We met with EVERYONE at this visit...geneticist, nutritionist, social worker, pulmo, nurse practicioner...and the pft/respitory people. The one year visit was nearly an all day event for us.

The only thing different that our son had ( hes 2) would be an ultrasound on his liver and pancreas, and anything else that is down there. Other than that, blood draws, X-ray and stool samples. And this year they redid a sweat test, dont ask me why,

for my daughter's annual exam, I try to get all the Rx for the x-rays and labs done at a hospital near my house about a week before the visit. I can pick up the actual x-rays before I take her to the clinic.
in this way the actual annual exam is less hectic and they should already have all the results. it also minimizes the time we need to spend there (there are sick people in the hospital!)
I have a big bag that I bring that has everything from reading material, water bottles, energy bars, rug hooking kit and most inportantly
a big blank notepad and plenty of pens to write things down.

DS's was last month and they did weight, height, physical exam -- listened to breathing, checked to see if he was retracting, felt his abdomen, usually they feel to see if his liver is enlarged. Then off to labs and xrays -- vitamin levels, etc.
Then off to the RT department for a throat culture. They tried to get a sputum culture, but he just wouldn't hack up a loogy for them. We now do all this as part of his well child visit in the peds department.

When we went to the regular CF clinic we met with three different doctors -- pulmo, peds & gastro. Then the dietician who went over his growth, body fat, calories consumed. RT did a throat culture. The social worker came in to annoy my husband and discuss our feelings <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0"> and a peds pharmacist came in to discuss all of DS's meds. Oh and the nurse would do a finger pulse-ox, bp, weight & height. Then off to the labs and xray department.
