We had more issues with constipation when we switched to whole milk. We'd been adding cream to DS' formula already, so it wasn't an allergy issue. He had horrible dry stools and a couple times they got stuck. I thought the poor kids was going to be on formula forever. But we got things adjusted and he's a big milk drinker though prefers our skim to his whole. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My son Ben was drinking milk and was having horrible stools. Never did he have a formed stool and he was having about 6-7 a day. (and yes they were soooooo stinky!) We just recently found out he is allergic to milk from an allergy blood test. Since stopping all dairy products his stools have drastically improved. Prior to finding this out we had tried everything from switching enzymes to adding daily probiotics and testing for celiac disease. I would see if you could get the blood allergy test. It's not bad just a little draw of blood. I wish we would have done it sooner for Ben. I feel really bad that he had to go 18 months with obvious discomfort from the milk just because we were blamimg CF for his stool issues. Hope this helps and good luck!

Oh the milk issue!!! Here is my own opinion and what we do as an alternative..
The possibility of milk producing mucous is there. So we just don't take the chance. Like you though, we do raw cheese and yogurt..I have yet to find something cheap, that has a good amount of fat and protein to replace them with.
ALL soy is genetically modified and thus is not in the form as God has intended it to be for human ingestion. So we just stay away from it!!!
Organic Rice Milk is a great alternative. Rice dream has 120 calories/8 ounces.
Coconut Milk is awesome!!! There are so many health benefits.
When Caleb turned one, I started giving him half Naked Juice and half Coconut Milk and he loved it.
One other thing to consider as a side note. is the teething issue. Everytime the boys had new teeth coming in, there poops would get so.....messed up. Usually I would give the yucky poop issues 3-5 days to clear up before I considered calling the nutritionist or making any changes.

please pm me if you need anything!!

blessings,
missa

My daughter is 14 months and she drinks Pediasmart. I have chose this over whole milk because milk unless it is organic, is chalked full of steroids and antibiotics. My daughter is lactose intolerant, but can eat cheese and yogurt. Granted thought she doesn't eat a whole lot at one time.

Pediasmart is made through a company called natures one. I absolutely love it and when I switched my daughter from Enfamil to this at 4 months, her bowel movements improved and she gained about 5 pounds. It is organic, but not only that, they use coconut oil as the fat source which is excellent for cfers because it is easlier digested. If you are interested, go to naturesone.com.

I am not a spokesperson or anything like that for this company, I just know the benefits it has given my daughter. The cost is comparitive to Pediasure but far better. Also, one of the founders of this company's son has CF and I believe he is 18 now. They have been in business for about 10 years. They even have a discount program for kids that have a g-tube. We get like 30% off the retail price.

Just an idea for you, but I hope things get better with you guys. :)
