10 Year old not wanting to do treatments

We have run into some of this with Emily of late too... she was pretty cooperative with the vest at first, and absolutely fine with enzymes, and then suddenly started really fighting us on both. In turns out someone she knew saw her taking her enzymes at school, asked her why she was taking pills, and she really did not like this.

It was really bad timing for that to happen since like your child Emily hasn't grown up with this either, and I think it's just now hitting her that all these meds, these treatments, how time consuming they are (and hers are so uncomplicated right now compared to what I see most of you post) are here for good and she is rebelling. I think it's probably normal for all our kids to go through this, although it certainly isn't good for them or easy for us.

Emily is younger (going on 8) and I decided to try a rewards chart where every time she cooperates for her vest she colors in a space on it and after a certain number she wins a prize. She loves to hold the prize bin and look at them all while she's on the vest (the only time she's allowed to look at them), and won the first one last night. We'll see how long that lasts before the novelty wears off; I hope it helps us through this rough patch and gains us better compliance.

The enzymes we are just non-negotiable on with a 'this is what the dr has given you to keep you healthy along with the other meds you have to keep you healthy' (and reminders about what med treats what condition, what it does and why, blah blah blah- not every time of course but when appropriate.) We have to take a really hard line on since she takes other meds as well and skipping those would have immediate, dangerous consequences (she takes seizure meds) so we have resorted to taking away privileges a few times when she really throws a fit about ANY of her meds.
