Actually it was reading about your kiddo that I actually thought to get her tested.

GREAT I didnt even know MRSA could pass through breastmilk.

My doc is very probreastfeeding - which is why she didnt want me to do vanc b/c she didnt want to harm the baby. The book she has on meds says they don't know the effects on baby but that it just goes into breastmilk.

Did you notice any crankyness with your son while u were on it or anything?

I decided to get her tested - now I am dealing with the tun around from the base hospital -grr Ill post about that later. But she will get a sweat test.

Sweat tests can give false negatives. Mine have always been normal or in the grey zone (lower end) and interpreted as not CF. My full genetic panel told the truth though. If you're getting the genetic testing done, there's really no need for the sweat test. ~J

Jessica - Yes MRSA can pass through breastmilk BUT it is ONLY a problem for premature infants. Full term babies and older babies/toddlers (like yours) are not at risk. Don't worry yourself over it. Dr. Hale says that vanc should be fine for baby(on his forum).

While you're on IVs (or any antibiotics) it is a good idea to give your daughter (and yourself!) probiotics to prevent intestinal upset and yeast problems. You can get them at the health food store in the refrigerated section. They make some specifically for babies. I took Cipro when my son was about a year and I gave us some probiotics and he never had any symptoms of anything (and he was still basically exclusively breastfeeding at that point).

Olivia was a preterm infant, so Im not really in the full term catagory.

As for vanc I suppose right now my doc wants to leave it alone - apparently what I am on right now will treat it too.

What is probitics? Isnt it in yogart too?
