I have high doubts that a sweep will work this early for a first time mom but good luck anyway. I just wanted to add that I have heard that many docs aren't inducing GD moms anymore and just letting them have the baby when baby decides to come and they just monitor baby with NST and BPP at the end of the pregnancy if you go over 40 weeks. I just hope that her sweep doesn't turn into "oops I broke your water" which means induction at 38 weeks which will most likely not work. I have heard many stories of docs doing that.

I'm also surprised at your docs unwillingness to do PFTs during your pregnancy (I mean after 20 weeks). I did them all throughout my pregnancy with Logan. I have new docs now but I'm assuming it will be the same.

Oh just FYI, there is a hypnobabies CD that is called "Baby come out NOW" that you can order from their website. I'm going to use hypnobabies for my delivery. If you are really worried about an induction at 40 weeks (I would be since the average gestation for first time moms is 41 weeks) then you could get that CD and start listening to it every day.

Hi Caroline,

Yes, she told me it might not work but that's okay. If the baby is ready to come she will. With more of my mucus plug coming out this afternoon, I'm thinking I might go into labor regardless of whether I have the sweep or not. DH and I are going to stock up on groceries today just in case labor starts this weekend. So far I've had tightness, pressure and mild contractions here and there.

The PFT's thing is just to prevent bronchiospasm since I'm newly diagnosed and I have a history of exercise induced brochiospasm. I think my doc doesn't want to cause me any suffering and she feels my PFT's are good enough to just leave it alone for now. My issues are so bad that I can't jog on a treadmill for more than 3 minutes without really suffering with burning and tightness, followed by lightheadedness. I've had this problem for years and was told it was exercise induced asthma. I have never been able to run non stop for any significant amount of time in my life that I can remember.

Thanks for the info on hypnobabies, I've never heard of that. I'll check it out. Right now all DH and I do is tell her "go towards the light!". Hee hee.

You probably do have exercise induce asthma in addition to CF. Not everyone with CF has asthma. Unfortunately I do so I know exactly what you're talking about. But I consider it asthma either caused by or in addition to the CF. Not actually the CF if you can see what I mean. I consider a junky cough or a lung infection to be CF. But not the asthma part.

Have you tried doing an inhaler before you exercise? That works pretty well for me. Are you on other asthma meds like Advair?

I hope for your sake that the loss of the plug means labor will come soon. I've heard it often doesn't mean much more than "you will go into labor sometime after losing it" whether it is a day later or a month later. I lost part of my plug about a week before I was induced but I'm positive that had I not been induced I would have probably held on another week or 2. (I won't be induced again and I regret doing it the first time but that is just me)
