A.D.E.K. with prenatal vitamins?

My doctor prescribed ADEKS on top of the prenatal but I declined them. Instead I took Vit E (New Chapter brand) and Vit K via prescription...it's called mepyton. During pregnancy I drank 2.5 gallons of milk a week so I got my Vit D there. Vitamin A was just what was in prenatal. Hope that helps. Oh and my vitamin levels stayed fine. A lot has to do with how your vitamin levels are before pregnancy since vitamin stores will be tapped into. It's not worth jeopardizing your health, unless you have really good levels like I did (normal) then I'd suggest you take the ADEKs. Get ready to eat lots of protein calories. Even if you are PS you'll likely have difficulty gaining if you are like most of us here. I worked very hard to gain my 27 lbs. eating an estimated 5000 calories a day at times. More cf doctors are thinking that cf moms don't deliver early because of respiratory distress but because of lack of nutrition to our baby. After all our lungs have had our whole lives to get used to this not being able to breath thing but only a few short months of this leech. Take care of yourself because that baby is going to get what it needs even if it means taking from your reserves.

My vitamin levels run on the low side to begin with. During pg I took one prenatal and one ADEK everyday.

Vitamin A can cause developmental problems with the baby. I would stick with just the prenatal vitamins.

The nutritionist at my CF clinic recommended that I stop taking my ADEKs once I got pregnant. She said it was fine to take them along with my prenatal while we were trying, but that too much vitamin A can cause harm to the baby, so as long as my bloodwork looks good I am taking prenatals only.
