A dumb question?

i just want to add that everyone always says how clear my lungs sound... no crackles, no nothing...

BUT, that's not always a good thing!

i'm at <20% function and could fill buckets with mucus... i sound great because i'm not MOVING AIR in most of my lungs. no air moving= no crackling/gurgling. your son knows his body the best. also, the ventilation/ profusion study ratatosk mentioned is useful in seeing this (also called a V/Q scan). There were two parts to mine, one where i inhaled the isotope to see the air flow through my lungs and the other right after in which a different isotope was injected into my IV to see the blood flow through them. This was part of my transplant workup (and was SO COOL to see on the monitor as it was happening)

It is in no way a dumb question..........

I always ask myself the same thing all the time. Everytime we go to clinic they say, she sounds great, normal, all clear, looks normal, breaths with no difficulty etc etc etc

Bronchs show no mucus, but 2 to 3 times a year we have ( what i call) massive mucus vomit attacks. They are realy bad and realy scary to the point that dd has been choking and we have had to call an ambulance on 2 occasions.
The mucus is so thick, i can lift the massive (gobble) 1 metre of the ground. Its that thick.

So i wonder, where is it all coming from and building up, when the lungs, sound clear, bronchs show no mucus ( besides normal amounts) and xrays are clear.

Its crazy and im baffled.............

It just goes to show how CF has a mind of its own and no one can give a an explanation as to whats going on, and why?

Would you also sound diminished if that was the case?
