Hi Jane,

Two things, that have pretty much been said above...

1 - Could very well be nasal. Whenever I have a lot of post-nasal drip, I'm coughing up stuff constantly that has dripped down to my lungs. Especially if those 6 abx for his sinuses are really working on his sinuses, it could be stuff dripping down (esp while he's sleeping).

2 - The other thing is that only loose mucous rattles in the lungs... that is what Dr's hear. If your son is doing really good physical therapy and getting everything up that is loose, the only stuff left will be really glued to the walls of the lungs and not make any noise. I have had this happen with me TONS of times. I'll be so congested, and on IVs, only to have the IV nurse say I sound pretty clear. My RT says that's a testiment to me doing a good job clearing myself out.
