Hello ladies!!! My name is Kristen andI am a 28 years woman living with Cystic Fibrosis. I currently live in a city right outside of Ft. Lauderdale Florida. I am a Deputy Sheriff with the localSheriffs office. I also have a double mutation of DeltaF508. I decided a few years ago that I wanted to try and have a baby. Didn't realize how the word Pregnancy and CF scares the living day lights out of everyone. My husband and I tried for one year with ZERO luck. After speaking to a fertility specialist we decided to try IUI. Once all doctors were on board, I started taking Clomid. After the doctor was happy with the number, ovulation was induced. It was a pain less procedure all in all. I was very fortunate to get pregnant on my first cycle. I was extremely shocked, I was expecting the BFnegative to appear. The doctor said bypassing the mucus was the trick. IUI is def cheaper than the IVF. I was prepared to pay whatever it cost to at least try. Regardless of what method is necessary, its worth giving it a try. I know how discouraging it is seeing that negative result month after month on the HPT's. I am blessed with a soon to be3 yr old daughter who keeps me very busy. I would love to have another but now Imweighing the risks of chancing another one. Itis adifficult decisionto make. For all of you still trying, don't loose faith. It is possible. I remember hearing that I would never have a career, never have children, never make it past my 18th birthday.......well that was a bunch of BS, so anything is possible. My pregnancy was relativelysmoothe until I got a nasty lung infection around 32 weeks. Luckily I was able to get the IV meds right away and nip the infection before she was born. Pregnancy is very straining on regular women, let alone on CF women. I tried to work out 4-5 days a week just doing cardio. I think it helped with expanding my lungs. My diabetes went a little whacky around 25 weeks but got under control within a few weeks. Good luck to all. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.
