takes an aggressive approach with her CF mommies</end quote>

I'd start to understand what this means early on and just like you'll do with your med's weigh the risk / benefit ratio. Next time around - as long as my health is the same as it is now - I will opt not for the "agressive approach."

They did a urine pregnancy test.

This OB sees almost all of the CF mom's at the University of Washington. She even delivered my pulmonologist's baby! The pulm doesn't have CF, she just thinks that this OB is so fabulous that she wanted her to deliver her own baby! She had gotten most of her CF moms to term.

Her idea of an agressive approach is to do a lot of work to PREVENT lung infections during pregnancy. They monitor lungs and sputum very closely and if there are any changes that indicate and infection might be brewing they slap some antibiotics on you. All of the meds I am currently taking are fine during pregnancy and my weight is good. I don't try to maintain my weight, I just do it naturally, so if I started on shakes or something I would gain pretty fast.

OT- Jessi may I ask what your FEV1 is? I am just curious about it because I am doing my homework about this and how it will affect pregnancy. I am currently going through the process of learning more before I get pregnant. Also how long have you been off your b/c?
Thanks

The last couple PFT's I've had, I had a some other stuff going on that made it hard to get an accurate FEV1. The time before last I was at the tail end of an episode of pleurisy, so it hurt to take a deep enough breath for the PFT. This last time it was my back that has been bothering me. I have a compressed disc in my lower neck/upper back that makes it hard to really puch out my breath hard enough. Coughing even hurts my back right now, so I am really diligent about doing my HTS and have been taking mucinex as well to make sure that my sputum is as thin as possible so I don't have to cough so hard and reinjure my back. I am going to physical therapy for that. My FEV1 is typically aroung 60 or better. The OB said that it is borderline for a pregnancy, but she has worked with women who have lower FEV1's.
