Vera! It's so great to see you on here!

If I get a cold, I just rest a lot and drink water non-stop. That's about it. I'm on enough vitamins and take strong enough care of myself that usually I can kick a cold in less than a week. If (like sf said) I'm still down after 10 days or so, I consult my doctors, because that usually means it's developed into something bigger.

On a personal opinion, I think most of us know our bodies pretty well, and I think we each react differently.

I am torn between both thought processes. I would kick up your therapies the first few days of the cold symptoms. Eating well, sleeping more, not pushing yourself physically. Do your vest a little longer.

If, in a couple days, you're feeling worse with more CF type symptoms, then I would consider antibiotics. The only thing is, if it is just a virus, and your pseudomonas is not acting up, then you run the risk of causing more resistance to your psuedomonas strain.

So, i would not race to the dr at the first symptoms of the cold. Yes, we get hit hard with viruses too. And yes, you can get a co-infection from your pseudomonas. But if you keep treating each cold with abx, your pseudomonas will alter its resistances and when you really need it, you are going to have to go with bigger antibiotics, which cause more issues.

Good luck

I am also like Amy. I know my body and I know that if I wait more than 4-5 days I will be worse off. I felt like I was potentially getting sick last night and today I make sure I do my treatmenets like everyone said, but I also do a sinus rinse twice a day...the neilmed brand, it has been mentioned on here. I know that if I skip even one dose or up to a few doses, that is when I come down with something. When I was sick in the early summer, I was not vigilant on that particular treatment and I had a hard time getting better. What the rinse does is, every time you use it it rinses out germs that would just be sitting there and it keeps your sinuses moist so that the mucus can move more freely. I love it and swear by it.

When I get a cold I up treatments, I eat more vit c foods ( a glass or twp of OJ a day), and I get more rest.

IF I an not feeling better in 4-5 days I will call my doctor and get antibiotics.
