Acute Rejection

My sister had her transplant a month ago and today we got news the lungs are rejecting. Or "acute" rejection as they call it. Were all nervous of course and the doctors are not really saying much. So of you guys that have gotten transplant, can you offer up some insight? It seems so soon for this to be going on. We knew it could and anxiously hoped it somehow would skip us, but no dice. When did you first show up with it and how many times have some of you had to battle it?

I had acute rejection about 5 weeks post transplant as well. Did her PFTs go down? What are they doing to treat it? i was blasted with three days of salumedrol. Knock on wood, it never came back after that. My PFTs did not drop through the whole thing. I had A1 rejection and my doctor just decided to do a bronch because my PFTs didn't go up as much as they should have. Looking back it was really scary when it happened, but it was jump a bump in the road. From what I understand, it is pretty common at that stage.

There doing exactly for her what they did for you. Thats awesome you haven't had another! Especially since you got lungs in '04!! Another girl on my fb commented that she deals with acute rejection twice and year and sometimes has lung function loss. I guess it just depends on the person. And ya her pft's were down and they already had a bronch scheduled so it worked out to be right in time. Thanks for chiming in!! I appreciate it, were all kinda freaking out but trying to stay calm for my sisters sake. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I obviously have no advice Laura, but wanted to let you know that I am praying for Geneva...she has stayed so strong this far and I just know in my heart that she will get through this as well.

Hugs and prayers coming your way.
