Adoption

Is there no other way to help the child with treatment till the adoption is finilized?
6 months is a long wait - but maybe you can do something without need to get into her official medical information - like help with expanses and such?
We have a very strict system here also - about such cases - but when asked there is help that can be handed... most people here do this through our cf fund - I do not know much about cf funds in Bulgaria - but there is at least one :

Maybe they can speed things up if the girls health needs it or just help you help out.

Well she will not be legally ours until then. We are hoping it will be closer to 4 months. Thank you for the information. We can offer to help. Not sure how much we will be allowed to.

thanks again for the information. We hope it is quicker. This wait is going to be tough

After reading your post...as far as learning english... do not worry at all
I learned english in 3 months enough to take part in classes in school in everything and had just little trouble with some words. teachers seemed to forget there was a problem with english a bit too fast for me :D so make sure to remind them that it takes about half a year for a child to start thinking in english - even if is she already speeks nicely :D So picking up some things will be slower still or she will use her old language's syntax. And also some letters are written differently - like Z and R and A
The best way is to let the child go to school :D
I was almost 9 when we moved to Canada for over 4 years. We returned after that to Poland but I spoke and wrote english better then than polish and had syntax problems again :D this time in polish.
At the moment I have less vocabulary in english - as I studied, worked and lived in Poland since then - but it still makes no difference to me wheather i speak or think in english or polish
warm hugs

Thanks, she seems to be learning quite quickly with the English tutor we are hiring, she is also taking English at school so I think she will be ok.

ok, quick update, we had court today and adoption approved, they have to do some paperwork and hopefully a pickup at end of August. I do not know why this takes so long.
We are waiting to see when they can send us her medical records

I believe its time for the authorities -officiec to do updates, create paper work, send it by traditional mail and all the needed stamps(easter Europe loves stamps and hand signing) and so on... Here the ususall time given formaly for the authorieties to do anything is 3 to 6 weeks :( even simplest paper work... the only thing you can do is ask to speed thing up in the officies and still you'll hear that it's a few offices and so on... it's paper work - but you can try :D usually they acctually do try :D but give no promisses

ok we just returned from bulgaria with our wonderful daughter. She is so sweet. We have most of her medical records. We have to translate them into English. We have an appointment with the local CF clinic this Thursday. thank you for all of your prayers/support. She appears pretty healthy and has a great appetite. We now begin this stage of our lives. I am sure we will have many more questions as we go through this part of the journey.

thanks. I assume we will do that today first thing. They usually do a 2-3 hour appointment for the first visit, but if she freaks out they may not do the entire visit now. I wish we had time to translate all of her medical records. We have a huge stack of it. I didn't see anything that looked like a genetic test. but I am not a doctor. Her last blood work looked normal, this was done in July.

Well the appointment went well. Her old meds were incredibly inadequate. It is amazing she is as healthy as she is. Her lung function is at 72%. We will go back in 2 weeks for more testing

Then I'm glad that she's in good hands :)
I figured she was getting medicine not strong enough when you asked me about some meds... but I hoped it was cause she was in good health. Good that she is :D

she really did not understand why she had to add meds. The home nebulizer really freaked her out. We tried to explain that it isn't because she is getting worse it is to keep her from getting worse. She likes the CPT. We are waiting on the vest to come in. We still have 2 dr visits next week then back to the CF center.
