I had a great clinic experience today.. My RT that I met with Kicks butt.. He taught me so much stuff.. He even drew me a diagram on how to huff breath...
He gave me great advice on how to get my insurance company to pay for me going to CF center for inpatient care...
He taught me to do the acapella... I got the one with an adjustment dial, so thanks for the advice Lauren....
So far I am close to worshiping it because I feel like it is going to give me so much more freedom and overall improve my lung function. After I am through this not able to use the vest thing, I am going to keep the acapella in my purse, He told me I could even use it in the bathroom at work, I can do it while in the car etc.... I will be giving myself mini "thumper" ( thumper is what I call my vest) treatments all throughout the day, whenever I feel like I need it...
For me, this is an amazing thing because I despise the vest so much and I think I hate it so much because I feel like I am a slave to it... Like if I am out and want to sleep there, I can't because I don't have anyway of doing CPT unless I have someone do it for me, which I am not comfortable with either...This actually feels like it vibrates my lungs better then the vest because my chest doesn't get in the way...
I am so grateful for the RT, he took all the time in the world with me... and I felt so comfortable with him... I feel lucky to have him, as well as my CF nurse...
Thanks for the great information guys.....
The name of the Acapella I got is from DHD Healthcare and it is the acapella DH/ with mouthpiece....
Look out lung function because you are going back up to where I was before my surgery...
