<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote> dont want to scare you but your daughter needs to stay away from the other girl at all times</end quote></div>

this is new to me, i have seen this mentioned before on this board but have never heard of this before-ok,now I'm concerned. I don't have any contact outside of school with this child or her mother but her mother & I frequently speak together with both of our children present. I know this changes the thread from my original question but how would I know if she had this? How does the doctor test? She is taking TOBI right now, will this affect her or the other girl with capesha? My doctor knows that both of these children are in kindergarten & just made it clear that they were not to be in the same class nor should they take thier treatments together in the clinic because that was the nurses great idea so they would have a "treatment" buddy.

my nurse says that it is very few & far between that you have 2 children of the same age/grade that both have CF going to the same school.

she has been very sick, do you think my doctor has already tested her for this? could this cause a lung infection? what about a sinus infection, would capesha cause this? I looked it up on the internet but didn't understand much of what it was saying.

Im not a pro on this, I know there is one girl on this site who has Cepacia, cant remember her name at this moment. Anyways I will try to answer a few of your questions.

Your daughter's doctor can request a specific test for B. Cepacia from her sputum culture. If your daughter can't actually give sputum for a culture it can also be done with a throat culture. If the doctor has already tested her for B.Cepacia he will have the results. Ask him/her. If she's had a bronchoscopy he may have checked that as well.

If your daughter's doctor has already told you that this other little girl has B. Cepacia then he has probably already checked your daughter.

All the CF clinics I've gone to have a seperate clinic day for CF'ers with B. Cepacia.

Have you gone to the CFF.org site? This is a good and understandable place to get more info. Just go to www.cff.org and type in Cepacia or B. Cepacia in the search area and click GO. You'll want topic #1. Burholderia Cepacia (germs and staying healthy)

As for Cepacia causing infections, I don't know if it actually "causes" the infections so much as making them worse or harder to treat and get rid of.

Best advice right now, keep Holly away from this other little girl including the rooms she's been in if they have not been santized.

once again, thank you & I know I sound crazy but what I read on the one thing I found was about onions & was basically saying that if a person with CF gets this it could be fatal. I'm going to research this on the CFF.org website more.

I do know that the girl goes to the same clinic as me & coincedentially she has never had the same day appt as me so I would assume that the schedule them on different days. I had to take my daughter on an off day because she was sick & the doc needed to see her-there were other children in the little "box" as my daughter calls it getting lung function & my doctor took us immediately to a different part of the clinic but I thought that was because she was so ill.

Surprisingly from what I have heard she actually has got some sputum up for the doctor before after some bribing with stickers so I am going to call & speak to my doc about it in the morning when I get off of work.

Thank you!!!!

Thank you all once again for your advice<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

she was happy about the other children getting mask's. They were allowed to color on them with crayons but the school nurse said no markers or glue because they will be too close to the kids nose (i didn't think this would matter if it was dried) & they are going to allow the kids to keep them in class so they can have them every day.

I also talked to my dr about cepacia & he said that she has already been tested before she got her IV Antibiotics so I feel much more comfortable about that.

Thank you all once again.
