38 is by no means "too old" -- by standards outside the CF community it would still be considered "young" for a lung transplant. Most of the non-CFers on the list are older, like 50s or even older, b/c COPD tends to develop later in life. At my center I believe the cut off age is 65, and I think that's pretty common.

Oh yes, the transplant centers I was at the average age was 40-50's. I think at Duke somewhere between 60-70 was the cut off.

Yeah, thanks. I'm just trying to get a sense of where my friend's at in comparison to others his age. He's pretty much in the same boat sans Diabetes.
