Thank you so much everyone. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Nebbing the albuteral for a few days now has made a BIG difference vs. the inhaler. In the past when sick just increasing the puffs has been ok but this time around I've seen a huge difference in nebbing. I'll have to keep it in mind to try both ways even if she seems able to inhale without much coughing next time around. Emily is not happy about all the extra nebbing since she is used to inhalers and only having to neb Pulmozyme, but she's been cooperating- I think she is noticing that she feels better. I think we need some new neb cups, though... one vial of Albuteral is taking a good 12min to get through (so I've just been doing it more often, as several of you posted, with excellent results.)
And thanks for checking in with us... We started an abx yesterday and she is continuing to cough up lots of stuff esp when vesting; but not getting worse at least. Her dr has told me that if she's not markedly better by Wed/Thurs he wanted to hear back from me and we'd start an oral steroid and/or change things, etc. He wants her vesting every 4hrs while she's awake. She was breathing about twice as fast as she usually does when I called and he was fairly sure it was due to fever, so wants me to keep her temp down as much as I can to see if that normalizes things. She did better last night. If breathing picks up again without fever I have to call right back.
