there is no rule that says you are not allowed to drink prior to being evaluated so i wouldnt worry. its not like youre an alcoholic! if a transplant team judge you based on a few drinks then they need their heads checked.

I wouldn't drink Bree. You may not be an alcoholic BUT a transplant team should and does take into account everything about you.

If you show up with urine that can show that you had been drinking while you were collecting it they may wonder how serious you are about the eval and the transplant. I KNOW you are serious. I am just saying how they may look at it.

You need to look at this like a job interview almost. Unfortunately they are going to be scrutinizing everything about you - not just your health but your mental state and your commitment and how you take care of yourself. I would try to steer clear of the alcohol for now until after the eval. That is just me though. Also to add I am not sure but if you have any "rules" or a write up telling you about your test. I know they gave me a list of things to read when they gave me the 24 hr urine thing and when I had to do some other "fun" collections - there were specific things mentioned that I wasn't supposed to have at all. I would check through your stuff and see if there is anything like that anywhere.

If not I would play it safe and steer clear though I COMPLETELY understand the desire for a drink. I have been craving one for about 4 months now lol. I am wanting to wait til I get off the heavier meds (the ones that are harder on my kidneys and liver) but MY God I am dying for just ONE drink on New Years .. lol. I have a call in to my docs office to see if that is a go or not though lol.

Have a good weekend

I was also going to add - if you are wanting to enjoy yourself THAT badly call the center and ask to talk to one of the nurses or nurse coordinators or someone that can answer some questions about your testing. Then explain the situation to them and tell them I just want to know if I need to refrain from drinking alcohol. I know there will be some there and want to know if it is okay for me to have drink since I start collecting my 24 hr urine the following day or what have you.

At least that way you are being honest and they can respect that a bit more rather than you just going out and having a few to find out the net day or two that you weren't supposed too.
