Well for one advair isn't for allergies.... it's for asthma and associated inflammation. Some people do get asthma from allergies. But it's not an allergy med.

There are a lot of misconceptions of what medications are "drying" in terms of anti-histamines. Some anti-histamines do have anti-cholinergic affects, which can really affect a CFer. Those anti-histamines include diphenhydramine (Benedryl) to a lesser extent, Zyrtec.

Claritin and Allegra both do not have anti-cholinergic affects and therefore do not dry CF secretions.

Maybe not medications, but a HEPA air filter in your bedroom and the room where you do meds.

Allergy dust mite encasings on your bed pillows and matress.

Anti-dust mite powder on your carpets.

Keeping your windows closed at all times and running the air conditioning if you need to cool down.

All of these things can have a tremendous impact on allergies.

I take Singulair and it works very well. I have no side affects from it.

I take Singular, Atarax, Astelin Nasal Spray, & Rhinocort Aqua (not sure if that is really for allergies or not). I am also going to an Allergiest soon to see what I am allergic to and what can I do about all my sneezing.

I take Singulair, Advair 250, and was taking Chlortrimaton (the now apparently defunct prescription version) 12 hr, but had to switch after they made the 12 hr OTC (higher dose now- too dingy headed on it). I also take Nasonex, and occasionally Astelin if my nose is really bad. I am fixing to switch to generic Claritin, but I'll have to go back to my GI in a month for liver tests. If my allergies are <i>really</i> bad, I'll take Actifed for a few days or so. I just bought some that is the new PE version- I'm hoping that it won't dry me out as bad as the one with the regular Sudafed in it. It worked the best for me for controlling my allergies (but made me sleepy), but just dried me out too much <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .
