If it helps, I got a box of generic Claritin (Loratadine 10mg) at Walmart yesterday for about $3 for 30 24hr pills. The WM brand generic was @ $8 (and had the same active and inactive ingredients-???). It's manufactured and distributed by Novartis Consumer Health, whom I've heard of, but not sure why. They may be a local company, but it might be worth taking a look if you liked the Claritin .

What are Xolair shots for?

We are choosing to try allergy elimination for seasonal and food allergies for myself and my son. I have suffered with seasonal allergies (horrible in the fall) for 30+ years and do not like the prescription meds. I also have developed food allergies over the past 10 years (dairy, grains, sugar and more). Our son (w/CF) has not been able to eat dairy without major digestive issues and rashy bum; he also is developing seasonal and pet allergies.

We are choosing to try a very successful elimination technique called NAET which is based on acupuncture and kinesiology. Now, I have been looking into this for over 2 years and was skeptical. However, I have seen with my own eyes how several families have successfully eliminated serious food allergies (and the behavioral issues and health problems which come with them) and seasonal allergies as well. Some of these children could not even touch a peanut or eat the tiniest bit of dairy without severe reactions.

I have been treated for grass, weeds, grains, sugar, and whey thus far and have tested positive for... sit down ladies... CHOCOLATE!! This is amazing since I love it LOL and definately the next one on the list to eliminate for sure :) Our son just started last week and was treated for dairy. He is just today trying some yogurt for the first time...cross your fingers.

Anyway, we are documenting our experience here if you're interested in the non-drug approach http://www.cfnutrition4life.co...rum_id=21&thread_id=19 There are also articles and links on the site.

Also, I have been able to successfully stop my reactions in the fall using quercetin, stinging nettles, NasalCrom, and extra vitamin C. You have to start about 2 weeks before the season and an anti-inflammatory diet during this time will help tremendously (avoid dairy, sugar, white flour products). Doing these things helped me not require a prescription for the first time every in my life.

Hope some of this can help you all...
