Allergy to IV cipro

Hi there,

I am allergic to a lot of the oral antibiotics used to treat CFers (Cipro, Levoquin, Bactrim, etc)....

Luckily I do not need antibiotics very often, but my doctor did say that we could do an allergy test to see which ones I am allergic to. I believe the plan would be to do the de-sensitization after that (as described in the post above).

Good luck!

Hope this helps. My whole life I have taken oral Cipro with no problem. When I was in the hospital a number of years back (for a tune up), they gave me I.V. Cipro, and I immediately swelled up, had shortness of breath etc. Without a doubt, I had an allergic reaction to the Cipro, a drug I had not only taken, but depended on (you know...us cf'rs lol). The docs told me that there is something in the IV cipro that some people get reactions from occasionally, even though they can take the oral cipro. I can still take oral cipro, no problems. I just have to avoid the IV cipro.

You can request to have an oral push done to see if you are allergic to the oral cipro. If I recall, the test takes about 3 hours, but it is worth it since Cipro is one of the drugs that works well for us.

HI, I was allergic to Cipro after years of using it. I.V. Cipro and hives and itch everywhre. Did not go away. And one cannot risk the allergic reaction of closing up the airways or something like that. Yes Cipro pills will do the same. I tried it years later, popped a Cipro in, and a bit later I was starting to itch. I stopped it.

I will be posting about my book that I've been compiling with all natural foods that healed me as a child and still do, and so many tips on home remedies, organic produce that does deliver results to "CF. The tip I have for all of you today, is DRINK 'SOLE' BRINE, MADE WITH HIMALAYAN CRISTAL SALT sold online so you can make it. THIS DOES REPLACE THE MINERALS/SALT LOST IN OUR BODIES, IT MAKES THE BODY ALKALINE (HARDER FOR BACTERIA TO THRIVE) AND IT MAKES MUCUS SLIPPERY SO EASILY SPIT OUT. ITS A NATURAL ANTIHISTAMINE SO YOUR CONGESTION WILL BE CUT IN HALF. BELIEVE ME IT IS 'MAGICAL' and no more dna'se. THE OTHER DRINK IS "GREEN COCONUT WATER" brands are Zico and O.N.E. from Brazil you can find it in health food stores and some groceries stores. THIS IS MAGICAL TRULLY...it hydrates me so well that I almost feel normal. 670mg potassium per glass of Coconut Water. YOu come out as if you had been revived from the hospital but NO SIDE EFFECTS NONE. Just feel good.
Try the Sole you may benefit to cut back bacteria but this is the only issue Im still not finding answers to fight them with other than antibitics.

You will be hearing soon about so many hollistic and natural meds that nobody ever knows here because I come from another country. Was diagnosed late 24yrs old but did have the full CF symptoms of the worst kind and I survived the 24yrs with HOLLISTIC AND NATURAL FOODS AND SPICES AND HERBS AND FLOWERS. Believe it or not. I am 46 now, have grandchildren and can only say that I pay more attention to God's garden because I do see improvement and healing than many meds the hospitals gave me that caused SO MANY PROBLEMS IN MY BODY.

Take care.

CFfor47yrs you say you were on herbal before you knew you had cf. Could I ask why this was when you did not know you had CF?

What made you turn to sole?
