So currently I cycle tobra and tobi monthly. one month tobi, one month tobramycin.

anyways i find that the tobra is too harsh on my lungs. when i was on tobra last time i was having constant lung bleeds, and when i switched to tobi it finally subsided for about a month. now that i'm back on tobra the blood seems to be coming back. i had a bleed last night, and don't want to continue taking tobra. i see my doctor in 2 weeks and want to bring up some alternatives if you know of any

i used to do one month tobi, one month off (just saline, ventolin, and pulmozyme) but since tobra is free for me they put me on it for precautionary sake i assume.

i culture PA, so anything that can fight that, if anything.

I switch between Tobi and Colistin when I have flare ups. Sorry, that's all my clinic does, though I know there are other alternatives out there.

I was once on Tobi but it wasnt really doing a good job with my infection. So my doctor switched it to Meropenem. Ive been on it almost 3years now,and i love it. I can see why it wouldnt work for some people, but for me its been a life saver! Why not give it a try. When i use Meropenem nebs, i cough alot. This may be a concern if you have problems bleeding?? But i would still give it a go. Just cos i cough alot when taking it doesnt mean you will?

Gentamicin, Aztreonam and Ceftaz are the three more I've used in lieu of tobra. (I can't tolerate TOBI anymore)

Gent is very similar to tobra though, so you may have issues with it. When I inhale Gent I use 80mg gentamicin (4mL). When I inhale Ceftaz and Aztreonam i use the 1 gram vials (I reconstitute them with 3mL sterile water).

Right now I'm on 2 weeks aztreonam, 2 weeks ceftaz. I do not take an "off" month. It's working rather well. I've been doing it since January.
