american airlines & oxygen

Hi, I will be flying from San Diego to LA, I normally have oxygen when I fly longhal, but this flight is 50 mins, not sure if I can get away with it. I think we will only be at highest altitude for 10 mins. My sats fell to 90 last time I was tested.

We are flying with American Airlines who I think charge $100 dollars per take off. Does anyone have any experience of travelling with them.

The only portable oxygen we have are E tanks and they won't allow them on board even if they are not in use. I didn't get much help with their customer service department.

Call AA (1-800-433-7300) and tell you need to speak with a "Special Assistance Coordinator". You would probably do better to call during the normal working day to actually reach someone.

This is the team within AA that is responsible for coordinating O2, wheelchairs, medical transports, etc.

They should be able to answer all your questions. The normal reservation people are just call-center employees reading from a computer screen so they can only tell you what they can find.

Sats of 90 is still considered in the safe zone. I'm planning a trip myself and have just talked to my doctors about oxygen for the trip since I'm now on nighttime o2.
