We started off using the tiny little suction cups when ds was about a week old, but switched to hands soon afterwards. Once in awhile I'll pull out the bigger suction cups and try them on DS, but he doesn't like them -- prefers our beating him. Always have our hands, so we can do a beatment just about anywhere.

Marissa does not like it when we use our hands. She likes the masks. She says it hurts when we use our hands. We always Pat her when we hug her. She rolls her eyes because she knows we are being sneaky.

We use the little cups also. We've only been doing the CPT for a few months and maybe I'm being a little anal retentive about it (tend to be that way some times<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">), but is she really doing a textbook job of CPT? After our clinic showed me how to do CPT, I came home and looked on YouTube for a CPT video so I could show my husband exactly what I had been taught to do CPT-wise and I found that video and wasn't excited about it. She doesn't look to be doing it how I was taught. For instance when she is pounding the front of his chest she is basically pounding all over and then when she does the back she is just pounding all over. We were told to do the CPT in steps - apical posterior segments, then anterior upper lobes, then posterior right upper lobe, then posterior left upper lobe, then posterior lower lobes, then and on and on and on.Do they just tell you to do all these steps in order because we are new to the CPT? Can I just consolidate it now? Melissa, how do the professionals do it in the hospital?

Andrew has been requesting CPT more than vest and flutter lately..(mostly because he gave up tv for lent and that is what he usually does during vest!), but we don't use the cups either. I use my hands and cup them appropriatley. I do 8 sections..basically splitting the front and back into four quarters, and spend about 5 minutes on each of the 8 sections. That video did not look right no me, either, but I know with a wiggly little one it is difficult to stick to one location!
